Neuhausen
the most beautiful spot
Neuhausen is idyllically situated in the Flöha valley, at the foot of the 789m high Schwartenberg. Together with its districts Dittersbach, Frauenbach, Heidelbach, Cämmerswalde, Rauschenbach, Neuwernsdorf and Deutschgeorgenthal it is for us and many of our guests "the most beautiful spot in the Ore Mountains".
The townscape of Neuhausen is characterized by Purschenstein Castle, a former customs and convoy castle on the “Alte Salzstraße” trade route, to which our town owes its existence.

Between Fairy Tale Castle & Nutcracker Queen
Apart from the fairytale-like Purschenstein Castle , the municipality has become known above all as the "home of the nutcracker". In the center of the town, near the train station and the town hall, is the museum complex at the Nutcracker Museum , the first of its kind in Europe! On an enchanting tour through the nutcracker world, visitors can discover numerous world records, such as the largest and smallest cracker in the world! A nutcracker queen has also been crowned here every year for many years.
